Galway, Ireland [December 2nd, 2010] Creganna-Tactx Medical takes Silver Award for Manufacturing and Operational Excellence at the fourth annual Medical Technology Industry Excellence Awards, jointly hosted by Enterprise Ireland, IDA Ireland and the Irish Medical Devices Association (IMDA), a business sector within IBEC.

Creganna-Tactx Medical Win Award for Manufacturing & Operational Excellence

Creganna-Tactx Medical won the award in the Manufacturing and Operational Excellence category for its development of a true “kaizen” culture as a means to enhance competitiveness at an operational level. An in-house Process Excellence Group was tasked with planning, executing and developing the lean culture at the company, resulting in the transformation of the traditional supervisory roles to that of Lean Team Leadership. This new approach has resulted in significant productivity gains and reduction in scrap percentages.

Commenting on the award Joan McCabe, Head of the Technologies Business at Creganna-Tactx Medical said, “Sweeping reforms to the healthcare industry is driving all companies in the manufacturing chain to seek innovative methods to achieve greater efficiencies. The Lean Team Leadership programme has enabled Creganna-Tactx Medical to meet these challenges. The programme has already been adopted by peer companies in the industry as a best practice model; this excellence award is further validation by the industry of its effectiveness.”

With three categories in total, the overall prize Medical Technology Company of the Year 2010 was awarded to Cappella.
