Creganna win award for Best Product Development Team

Creganna has won an International Stevie Award for Best Product Development Team in the 2008 International Business Awards. Creganna was one of two Irish companies to win an award, selected from more than 1,700 entries received from organizations in more than 30 countries.

The International Business Awards are the only global, all-encompassing business awards program honouring great performances in business. Ireland has been chosen as the location for this year’s award ceremony and will be sponsored by Dow Jones and IDA Ireland.

Creganna’s award recognizes the company’s success in the development and commercialization of new products and technologies.

Creganna operate a unique environment for research and development known as the Creganna Innovation Centre. Driven by rigorous research of customer requirements, the Innovation Centre team bring to market new component products and processing technologies for minimally and less invasive medical delivery systems. Over 50% of the Creganna Innovation Centre team are Ph.D. level graduates and leaders in their fields of research.

“The technological outputs of our Innovation Centre are focused on key market requirements and assist medical device manufacturers to develop cost effective products that improve patient outcomes” said Helen Ryan, Creganna CEO. “As a company that is driven by innovation, we are delighted that our Innovation Centre team has been recognized for this prestigious International Award.”

The award recognizes three new developments the team launched to market in 2007 – Javelin™, Fusion Technology and Meridian Technology.

Javelin™ is a specialist metal alloy developed for challenging needle applications. It offers physicians superior control to navigate and deploy biopsy needles within difficult anatomy.

Fusion Technology™ allows for Nitinol to stainless steel welding – an industry first for the medical device sector.  This innovation enables the development of superior delivery systems for medical devices, lowering cost and facilitating better clinical outcomes.

Meridian Technology is a software design tool that finds optimal design for a delivery device, thus eliminating the traditional route of iterative design and prototype testing.

Ranked among the global Top 10 outsourcing providers to the medical device industry and listed in Europe’s top 500 growth companies, Creganna recently expanded its US presence with an official opening of its facility in Marlborough, Massachusetts in March 2008. Creganna, Ireland’s largest indigenous company in the medical device sector employs over 500 staff and has sales and manufacturing facilities in Galway, Ireland California, Massachusetts, Minnesota and Finland.

The only other Irish winner of a Stevie Award was Dublin based company, Globoforce.
